Jim Zacher was a human factors scientist at York University for over 25 years. He had designed, implemented and acted as the technical and research support for joint research projects on the Space Shuttle and International Space Station with NASA, the European Space Agency and Canadian Space Agency. During his tenure at York University, Jim completed his Master’s degree in Brain, Behaviour and Cognitive Science.
Currently, Jim is the technical & safety director overseeing clinical hyperbaric operations and research coordinator examining the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) at the Judy Dan Hyperbaric Medicine and Advanced Wound Care Centre. He is a certified occupational SCUBA supervisor as well as an active diver who instructs at the Underwater Skills program, specifically training commercial and police recovery divers. Jim is an active member of the CSA z275 technical and subcommittees dealing with hyperbaric operations, occupational safety code for diving operations, competency standard for diving operations and occupational diver training. In his spare time Jim enjoys 3D archery and playing Canada’s first national sport – lacrosse.
